Dr. Ed Smith received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Providence College in 1985. Subsequently, he completed medical school training at Georgetown University in 1990. He also served his internship and residency at Georgetown University Hospital. After serving his residency, he worked for Northern Virginia Doctors Hospital. Dr. Smith is a member of the American College of Physicians. He joined Winchester Internal Medicine, Inc. in the fall of 1995. He lives in Frederick County with his wife Anne, two children and the family dog.
Dr. William Brink received a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1989. Subsequently, he graduated from medical school at Temple University with honors in 1993. He completed his residency in internal medicine at University of Virginia in 1996, and has been working at Winchester Internal Medicine, Inc. since that time. He is an Attending Physician at Winchester Medical Center. Dr. Brink is board certified in internal medicine and serves as an active member of the American College of Physicians. He also serves as assistant professor of internal medicine at University of Virginia and is active in teaching medical students from the University of Virginia, as well as Doctor of Pharmacy students from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. In addition to seeing general internal medicine patients, Dr. Brink also has a special interest in hypertension, preventive cardiology and hepatology. Community involvement includes volunteer work at the Free Medical Clinic of Northern Shenandoah Valley, in addition to volunteering as physician for various high school sports programs. Dr. Brink and his wife Kathy live in Winchester with their four children.
Dr. Kozlowski joined Winchester Internal Medicine, Inc. in July 1997. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Scranton in 1990. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1994, and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia Health Science Center in June 1997. He has been board certified in Internal Medicine since 1997. Dr. Kozlowski has been an active member of the American College of Physicians since 1994. He holds an Associate Clinical Professor position in the department of Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia. He remains active in teaching medical, pharmacy and physician assistant students. Dr. Kozlowski practices general internal medicine with special interest in cardiology, peripheral vascular disease, diabetes and hypertension. He lives in Frederick County with his wife Denise and their three children.
Dr. Keim graduated from medical school at the University of Virginia in 1994. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia in 1997 and received board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine the same year. Dr. Keim is a member of the American College of Physicians since 1998, as well as the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Keim joined Winchester Internal Medicine in July, 1997. His particular interests include diabetes and thyroid disease. He is a bike enthusist and lives in Winchester with his wife Pam and their two children.
Dr. Andrew Schwentker joined Winchester Internal Medicine in July 2000. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He received his undergraduate degree at Williams College in Massachusetts. He attended medical school at Penn State University in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He completed his internal medicine residency training at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Dr. Schwentker has extensive research experience in the fields of stroke and heart attack at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He is board certified in internal medicine and has interest and experience in a wide range of adult medical problems. He is an Attending Physician at Winchester Medical Center. Dr. Schwentker, his wife Mary, and their two children and dogs, reside with their horses near Winchester.
Dr. Hethcoat joined Winchester Internal Medicine, Inc. in June 2002. He received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN, in 1982. He attended Mercer University School of Pharmacy in Atlanta, GA and graduated with a Pharmacy degree in 1985. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Mercer University School of Medicine (Macon, GA) in 1993. He completed a Metabolic/Nutritional Support residency at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA and Internal Medicine residency at the University of Tennessee (Chattanooga, TN) Erlanger Medical Center. He has been board certified in Internal Medicine since 1996. Dr. Hethcoat practices general internal medicine with special interest in cardiovascular risk management, diabetes, hypertension, and metabolic/nutritional support. Dr. Hethcoat is an avid outdoorsman and loves to fish and hunt. He and his wife Cindy along with their pets, reside in Frederick County.
Dr. Sherry Schott joined Winchester Internal Medicine, Inc. in December 2013 after practicing with Dr. Charles Drake for 19 years. She is a graduate of West Virginia University School of Medicine and did her internal medicine residency at WVU. Dr. Schott is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Her particular interests include diabetes, thyroid disease, women’s health as well as general internal medicine. Dr. Schott is an avid runner and enjoys tennis. She lives locally with her husband Timothy, and sons Chad and Casey and daughter Katie. Winchester Internal Medicine, Inc. is happy to welcome Dr. Sherry K. Schott and her faithful patients to the practice.
Dr. Ruma Dahal will bring her expertise in family medicine to Winchester Internal Medicine, Inc. in September 2019. She has extensive experience as a hospitalist in Louisiana as well as at the Winchester Medical Center. Now she wants to share that knowledge and skill on an outpatient basis with our excellent patient base at Winchester Internal Medicine, Inc.
Dr. Dahal completed her medical education at the University of Science and Technology in Chittagong, Bangladesh and completed her residency in family medicine from Louisiana State University in July 2013. She served Affinity Health Group and St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA for 3 years before moving to the Winchester Medical Center in August 2017. Dr. Dahal is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Her special interests in medicine include diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disease and preventative medicine. Originally from the Himalayan country of Nepal, she now lives in Loudoun County with her husband and two children, a five- year old boy and nine -year old girl.
